Citizens - In Tenderness

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Citizens (not Citizen, mind you), they are a band that plays on Sundays at one of Mars Hill Church’s soon-to-be fifteen campuses, which are primarily located in Washington state. “In Tenderness” was actually originally written by W. Spencer Walton in 1894, which means this incredibly energetic song is actually a hymn. Even if worship music isn’t your thing, this song is definitely worth a listen. My church in Raleigh, Imago Dei, is doing it on Sunday, and I’m pretty stoked about it.

Major League - Homewrecker

Saw these gents with Senses Fail back in April. High energy and a lot of fun. If you’re into the edgier side of pop-punk, then I would highly recommend Major League.

The Dangerous Summer - Catholic Girls

The Dangerous Summer has been one of my favorite bands over the last couple of years, and it seems their upcoming release, Golden Record, will be no exception. The intensity they bring into each song invokes a kind of emotion that I find with few other bands. Close your eyes for this one.

Anonymous asked: The new TCM album is fucking amazing, underwhelming feedback? are you mental?

I’m not saying I don’t like it. I’m saying the reviews were moderate. Three stars here, two and a half stars there. Personally, I think the lyrics on this album are incredible, and I like the edginess of the vocals. I’m merely responding to what the general consensus seems to be. Wouldn’t put it on this blog if I didn’t like it.

The Color Morale - Strange Comfort

Let’s be honest. The feedback for The Color Morale’s latest full-length, Know Hope, has been rather underwhelming, at best. And while that may be disappointing for fans of their first two albums, don’t sign off on this 2013 release just yet. Lead vocalist Garret Rapp admits that the raw, almost underproduced sound of Know Hope spawns from his current personal struggles in his life and faith. That being said, it’s worth giving this album a second listen. You may find yourself on common ground.

The Early November - Tell Me Why

If you have yet to listen to The Early November’s latest full-length, In Currents, you’ve been missing out. And even if you have, they just released this music video for “Tell Me Why” today; definitely do yourself a favor and check it out here on [theSoundcheck].
